The statue of Marie-Queen of Peace remains in its original form but with improvements to the grounds and the addition of a roof to provide shelter from the elements.

The Rex Cinema,

Featuring the Marx Brothers in 'A Night at the Opera'. The cinema has been demolished and there is now a car park on the original site.

Town Hall,
Port Louis

Unfortunately, the original print has been damaged and there are no surviving negatives. The Town Hall has been replaced by a modern, unattractive building.
1943

Cavendish Bridge,
Mahebourg

Unfortunately, we did not locate this bridge during our stay on the island. Built by the British in 1908, it spans the River La Chaux at Mahebourg. The 2002 photograph is from maurice-leguide.com.
